For those of you who are freelance workers, you may have been wondering whether you can get BPJS Employment facilities like office or full-time workers. The answer is yes. Since 2015, BPJS has launched guarantees for groups of informal workers or Non-Wage Earners (BPU), which includes freelancers .
The programs and benefits you will receive will not be much different from Wage Recipient (PU) workers. In accordance with Minister of Manpower Regulation 1/2016, you can take part in three programs, namely Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Insurance (JKM), and Old Age Security (JHT).
So, what about the fees? As a freelancer who does not receive wages regularly, your BPJS contributions are not calculated from individual wages, but from a certain nominal amount and are determined based on the amount of individual income.
According to PP 44/2015 concerning the Implementation of the JKK and JKM Program, in detail the provisions for the amount of contributions that must be paid are:
- JKK: 1% of income, minimum IDR 10,000 and maximum IDR 207,000
- JKM: IDR 6,800 per month
- JHT: 2% of income with a minimum of IDR 20,000 to a maximum of IDR 414,000.
Furthermore, the deadline for payment of contributions is the 15th of each month. As a participant, you can choose to pay every 3 months, 6 months and 1 year and can choose to pay directly at the BPJS office or BPJS partners.
